Academic Assessment

For children aged three and up, Dr. Grenell brings over 30 years of experience in the evaluation of children.  He has completed formal postdoctoral training in child assessment at the Reiss-Davis Child Study Center.

At his Madison street office he performs testing of children for private school gifted (enriched) programs, and appeals testing for Advanced Learning Programs in Seattle Public Schools.  All tests are administered and interpreted by the clinical psychologist, Dr. Grenell. Assessment technicians or psychometricians are NOT used to administer tests.  All phases of the process are performed by Dr. Grenell.

Detailed assessment of cogntive processing, including attention and concentration.  Overview of academic abilities, including reading, language and math.

Intelligence (I.Q.) testing for entrance into school programs. I use the Weschler Adult Intelligence Test - 4th Edition (WAIS-IV), the Wechsler Primary Preschool Scale of Intelligence - 3rd Edition (WPPSI-III), and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - 4th Edition (WISC-IV) 

For Academc Testing (Achievment portion, Reading and Math) the Wechsler Individual Achievment Test (WIAT-II and WIAT-III) is used. This procedure is accepted by Seattle Public Schools Advanced Learning division.

Personality Assessment

Psychological and Psychiatric evaluation of most diagnoses, including: depression, anxiety, bipolar I & II, schizophrenia, alcohol abuse and dependency, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and personality disorders.

When appropriate, utilizing psychological testing instruments, including: Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2); Millon Multiaxial Clinical Inventory (MCMI-III); Personality Assesment Inventory (PAI); Thematic Appeception Test (TAT) and Projective Drawings (House-Tree-Person),
